Many fans expected Thiago and Wanderlei Silva to face off sometime near the end of the year. From the UFC's announcement, it looks as though the latter Silva will have to wait. Lyoto Machida has found an opponent in Thiago Silva, and the addition of this bout to the UFC 89 card makes it one of the best in recent memory. Bisping/Leben, Alves/Sanchez, and Sokoudjou/Cane are already scheduled for the card, but the addition of Machida and Silva will make the main card a strict no bathroom break event. Both are top competitors in the UFC's 205 pound division, and both are undefeated in the organization. A win for Machida would almost have to warrant a title shot whereas Silva would probably need one more win before he would be granted a chance. It looked as though Rampage would get a rematch with Griffin, but with his recent troubles, it will likely be Liddell/Evans and then Machida/Silva.
