Renato ''Babalu'' Sobral vs. Bobby Southworth Strikeforce Fight Set For Nov. 21

Sources at have Cage Today reported :

Strikeforce has confirmed that the once cancelled fight between Renato “Babalu” Sobral and Bobby Southworth is now back on and set to co-headline the upcoming Strikeforce card on Nov. 21 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.

Southworth will defend his Strikeforce lightweight title against a well rounded fighter in Renato “Babalu” Sobral.

The fight was originally set to take place at last months Strikeforce “At the Playboy Mansion 2′, but both fighters pulled out with injuries.

The main event on the card will be Josh “The Punk” Thomson defending his Strickforce lightweight title against an unknown opponent.

WHOA.....If I remember correctly, Southworth lost a close (but legitimate) decision to Bonnar.....Bonnar is tough as nails, but IMO Babalu's on a whole different MMA level. I think Southworth's in for some jiu jits schooling, then again, it appears as if Southworth's been doing well, considering the fact that he has the title (this was news to me --- I don't keep up with Strikeforce) --- guess we'll see ----- my money's on Babalu all the way still....I definately HOPE he KICKS SOUTHWORTH'S ass.....

U know I'm ALWAYS down to watch Tito throwdown.....hell that fool is BOUND to unleash the beast within, from his past. He's long overdue.....some say that all the bad press he was getting, and hate mail, he was receiving in UFC was effecting his mental preparation for his fights. Call it what u want.....haters will say it's an excuse. Personally, I think that because of the ridiculous amount of bad blood he had with Dana White, that it couldn't have been healthy to train for fights in such a negative situation. Just like anything else --- if I sense that something is a negative situation in my life, i just get rid of that shit. I think he fought it too long, and his career suffered. That's just one point of view, I guess. He needs to fight for a circuit that wants him, beleives in him, and supports him, and then that cat will come back like a hungry ass lion. He's a champion --- it's been too long since he's seen a good victory. As far as him fighting Babalu -- right there with you -- I think Southworth loses, then they fight, and TITO GNP's Renato's ass (I like Babalu, but not like Ortiz)....The thought is exciting as hell, and a PERFECT MATCHUP

Lightweight title? You mean Lightheavyweight title.Yeah Southworth vs Babalu is a huge mismatch for the Strikeforce champ.I'd put the rent money/house payment,the ranch,the farm whatever you got on Babalu for this one!

Terrible T: I like ur confidence, brotha!! haha....I agree that Renato takes this, and I say this outta shear, personal following of Babalu, and what danger he can present to any opponent. Southworth, I simply know nothing about, except that he bitched when Stephan Bonnar beat him to a controversial decision (i thought Bonnar won, NO DOUBT), his attitude used to suck, and I beleive I remember him being the dude that made Chris Leben cry by callin him a "fatherless bastard", or something to that effect. Anyways, It was news to me to read this article and find that Southworth had some success to the lenghts of being a title holder for Strikeforce. With as many UFC fighters that are either being picked off, kicked off, or choosing to leave, I think Southworth got in line with SF for the title, JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME, cuz from what I remember of his fighting skills, Bobby was a good boxer, powerful as hell, but in comparison to our UFC LHW's he would've simply been middle of the, beneath James Irvin, if that helps anyone gauge where I'm coming from. On that note, that's not to say Irvin sucks, in fact, I think if your name is in any way used as a gauge in UFC (except to reference someone that obviously has no talent), then that's pretty damn commendable. Southworth's gonna try to go for the KO, but he nds to remember BABALU can box too, AND BOX good enough to give the implication that he's ready to do it for the entire fight.......THEN, WHAM!!!! he goes in for the shot, and Southworth finds himself wrestling a latin boa constrictor with no "stop" in him. Bobby had a big mouth that annoyed me, and walked around like his shit didn't stink (that is until he got throttled by The American Psycho -- Stephan Bonnar). I'd like to see him in a triangle or rear naked choke. Hell, with Babalu, he may find himself in a situation to where he'd better tap or his ankle's gonna switch directions. If Babalu covers up.....he wins.
