Riding on the heels of a highly publicized restraining order , the PR disaster known as Todd Beard continues to impress with his laundry list of skeletons falling out of the closet. The latest details about Beard’s “questionable” past deal with his jail time, elderly fraud scam, and of course, assaulting a pregnant ex-girlfriend, all of which might just result in the loss of sugar daddy backer Donald Trump.

Beard the com-man:

“…The scam involved dozens of telephone salespeople at the four companies who persuaded people to buy home safety products for far more than they were worth by telling victims they had won expensive prizes…They targeted the elderly because they were the most vulnerable…They were usually partially or fully senile, widowed and alone with no close family around…

Bowman’s role was to make the initial calls to potential victims. He earned the company $110,000. Beard made follow-up calls to people who had been duped once to try and dupe them again. He brought in $350,000.”

Beard the assailant:

“Denise Zullo, with whom Beard has a daughter, has alleged in court that Beard has struck, intimidated or threatened her and has received court protection from him in the past.

In a December 31, 1997, request for a restraining order, Zullo testified that in the late summer of 1996, Beard punched her in the stomach while she was pregnant. She also testified that on May 13, 1997, she sprayed him with pepper spray to stop what she called “another of his violent, drunken outbursts.”

Beard the inmate:

“Beard served 30 months in a federal prison from 1993-95 after pleading guilty to three felony counts, of conspiracy, wire fraud and mail fraud. Those felony convictions may end billionaire Donald Trump’s association with Affliction’s MMA promotional company. Trump holds a gaming license in New Jersey and gaming licensees are not permitted to do business with felons.”

It would appear that Couture and company are indeed better off without Affliction if this is the man they would be dealing with. No one in the business wants to be associated with that kind of image nightmare, and it can only further hurt Affliction’s chances of long term survival. Metal bands and lousy announcing are almost forgivable, but when it’s revealed that the company president punched a pregnant woman and conned senile old people…well you just can’t spin that sort of thing in any better light.
